Welcome to the Most Beautiful Castle in the South
Built in the C17th, this magnificent building is steeped in history. Originally built as a hunting lodge to entertain aristocracy and royalty, it was for centuries the family seat of the Weld family, the current owners of the Lulworth Estate. Ravaged by fire in 1929, it has been partly restored in a pioneering partnership with English Heritage. With extensive parkland, woodland walks, a children’s playground, the spacious grounds are yours to enjoy, walk the dog or enjoy a picnic. (Please keep dogs on leads). The Castle Tearoom is open for light refreshments and souvenirs.
Tickets to visit the Castle can be booked in advance or purchased on the day if visitor capacity has not been exceeded. BOOK TICKETS
If you are a member of English Heritage* or Historic Houses Association there is no need to book your visit in advance but please do check opening times online and bring your membership cards with you. *Corporate English Heritage, CADW, Historic Scotland and any other affiliated memberships are not valid at Lulworth Castle

Lulworth Castle & Chapel are closed on FRIDAYS but the grounds are open. to explore.
Lulworth Castle, Chapel and grounds are CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC on SATURDAYS.
The Castle will be closed for the winter from Friday 20th December and will reopen on Sunday 2nd March 2025.
