Erosion
The whole coastline that you can see at Lulworth has been shaped, moulded and altered by a variety of erosion processes which are at work every single day.
Erosion processes include:
- chemical – salt, rain
- biological – plants, animals and humans
- mechanical – sun, rain, wind and frost as well as the action of the sea and rivers
These processes have been responsible for making caves, arches, stacks, stumps and the formation of Lulworth Cove. In the future the coast will continue to change as bays merge and new features form.
Please be aware that due to the changing nature of the coast, slumping cliffs can mean that access is affected
