The Role:
Help us create unforgettable celebrations in an extraordinary setting
Set within the historic Lulworth Estate, surrounded by the rolling Dorset countryside and just moments from the Jurassic Coast, Lulworth Castle is a remarkable place to work, and an even more remarkable place to celebrate. We are looking for a warm, organised and creative Wedding & Events Co-Ordinator to help bring weddings and private events at Lulworth Castle to life.
From introducing a newly engaged couple to the Castle for the first time, to helping shape the details of their day and ensuring everything comes together beautifully when it arrives, you will be part of some of our guests’ most important moments. This is a varied, hands-on role combining sales, marketing, relationship-building, planning, and event delivery. You will become a trusted point of contact for our couples and clients, while working closely with colleagues and suppliers to create events that feel effortless, memorable and distinctly Lulworth.
Why Lulworth?
You will be joining a team working in one of Dorset’s most distinctive settings: an historic Castle at the heart of the Lulworth Estate, surrounded by parkland and countryside and close to the Jurassic Coast. This is a role for someone who wants more than a conventional events job, combining beautiful surroundings, a remarkable heritage setting and the opportunity to play an important part in some of our guests’ most memorable days.
Objectives:
• Increase wedding bookings through proactive sales and marketing activity.
• Deliver an outstanding and personal experience for couples and private clients.
• Ensure the seamless planning and delivery of weddings and private events.
• Gather and respond to client feedback to continually improve our events offering.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate weddings and events with the Castle’s wider visitor operations.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week. Weddings and events do not operate to conventional office hours, so flexibility is an important part of the role. You should expect regular weekend working, including working across both weekend days when required, alongside occasional evening work and flexibility around client viewings and event schedules.
Please apply with CV and covering letter to recruitment@lulworth.com
Key Responsibilities:
- Marketing and storytelling - Help tell the story of weddings at Lulworth and inspire future couples to imagine their own celebration here. Contribute to the creative development of our website, wedding brochure and marketing materials, and create engaging content across social media.
- Sales and viewings - Build warm, genuine relationships with clients from first enquiry, understand what they are looking for and confidently showcase the possibilities of the venue, guiding them through to booking. Generate new enquiries through email, social media and other sales activity, and represent Lulworth Castle at regional and national wedding shows.
- Planning and client support - Become a trusted point of contact, lead planning calls and meetings, offer guidance, answer questions. Welcome clients to the Castle for set-up, coordinate deliveries of drinks and decorations, help with personal finishing touches and guide rehearsals where needed.
- Preparing the castle - Play a hands-on role in transforming the Castle for each celebration. Prepare ceremony and reception spaces, arrange furniture and equipment and coordinate with caterers and suppliers.
- Event days - Manage timings, guests and the many moving parts behind the scenes so that the celebration feels effortless. Remain calm, resourceful and solution-focused when the unexpected happens, resolving issues discreetly and keeping the day on track. You will also ensure relevant health and safety requirements are met, act as Deputy Premises Supervisor for the service of alcohol and as the appropriate person for a Civil Marriage Licence.
- After the celebration - Continue the relationship after the day itself, gathering feedback and testimonials that help us continually improve and inspire future clients. Share appropriate content from the celebration across our social channels and oversee the careful pack-down of event items, helping return the Castle to its everyday setting ready to welcome visitors once again.
- Wider castle events - Supporting selected family and visitor events throughout the year. This may include contributing creative and marketing ideas, helping with decorations and set-up, and supporting the smooth running of event days. You will also help ensure our workspaces and event equipment are kept organised and presented to the standards expected across the Castle.
