Lulworth Estate is home to some of the UK’s most iconic natural and historic landmarks, including Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, and Lulworth Castle. Welcoming over one million visitors annually, the Estate offers a unique blend of natural beauty, rich heritage, and unforgettable experiences.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Visitor Experience Officer to play a central role in delivering an exceptional, memorable experience for every guest. This role blends frontline visitor engagement with creative marketing support, ensuring that our story, values, and conservation mission are communicated consistently and compellingly. The postholder will also participate in the Duty Manager rota at Lulworth Cove, supporting the safe and smooth running of daily operations.

This role is varied and hands‑on and you’ll be a visible, approachable presence on site, helping visitors feel informed, safe, and inspired throughout their visit. Your understanding of what visitors need, enjoy, and respond to will help shape how the Estate communicates and evolves its offer.

About You

· A passion for providing excellent customer service and ensuring an outstanding visitor experience.

· A good understanding of site safety protocols, with the ability to follow and enforce safety measures.

· Marketing and communications experience including digital marketing, planning, scheduling and implementation.

· Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to engage visitors in a friendly, approachable manner.

· Able to work independently and as part of a team contributing to a collaborative, positive working environment.

· Good physical stamina and strength due to the role involving a variety of outdoor tasks.

· Flexible and adaptable with willingness to perform a variety of tasks and adapt to changing conditions or priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Visitor Experience & Engagement - Provide a warm, informed, and proactive welcome to all visitors across the Estate’s sites, ensuring high standards of customer service. Offer guidance on walking routes, safety, facilities, local history, and the Estate’s conservation work. Support the daily operation of visitor hubs, car parks, and information points. Monitor visitor flow and behaviour, helping to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment during peak periods. Assist with the delivery of events, activities, and seasonal programming. Gather visitor feedback and insights to help improve services and inform future planning.
  • Marketing & Communications - Contribute to the Estate’s marketing activity by capturing high‑quality content (photos, short videos, visitor stories) for use across digital channels. Support the creation of social media posts, blogs, and visitor information updates in line with brand guidelines. Help monitor online engagement and visitor sentiment, flagging trends or issues to the Visitor Experience Manager Assist with the distribution and upkeep of on‑site signage, interpretation, and printed materials. Provide frontline insight to inform marketing campaigns, visitor messaging, and promotional opportunities. Represent the Estate’s brand values in all interactions, ensuring consistent communication across touchpoints.
  • Program Delivery - Support the planning and delivery of visitor programming across the Estate, including seasonal activities, guided walks, talks, family events, and engagement sessions. Assist with the setup, coordination, and smooth running of programmed activities, ensuring they are safe, accessible, and delivered to a high standard. Help gather feedback and insight from participants to inform future programming and improve the visitor offer. Contribute creative ideas for new activities, events, and engagement opportunities that enhance the visitor experience and encourage deeper connection with the landscape. Support the promotion of programming through on‑site communication, digital content capture, and collaboration with the Visitor Experience and colleagues across different departments.
  • Duty Management at Lulworth Cove - Participate in the Duty Manager rota, acting as the on‑site operational lead during allocated shifts. Oversee the smooth running of Lulworth Cove’s visitor operations, ensuring safety, service quality, and a positive visitor experience. Act as the first point of contact for incidents, emergencies, and operational issues, following established procedures and escalating where necessary. Coordinate with teams across the Estate ensuring consistent communication and effective problem‑solving. Provide leadership and support to staff on duty, helping to maintain a motivated and informed team.
