The Role:

Set on the iconic Jurassic Coast in Dorset, the Lulworth Estate is a diverse and historic rural estate encompassing residential and commercial property, agriculture, tourism, retail, hospitality, events, and conservation. The Estate includes the world-famous Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, welcoming significant visitor numbers each year while also operating as a thriving working estate.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small and supportive accounts team within a unique and varied environment, where no two days are quite the same.

The Role

We are seeking a diligent and organised Accounts and Payroll Clerk to take full responsibility for the accurate preparation, processing and administration of the monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. In addition, the role will provide broad accounting support to ensure the efficient and effective financial management of the Estate’s diverse activities.

We operate across multiple sectors, therefore the postholder will be required to work across a wide range of income streams and cost centres, reflecting the unique and varied nature of the Estate’s operations.

This is a full time, permanent, in-person role, working 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Please apply with CV and covering letter to recruitment@lulworth.com .

Key Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end responsibility for the monthly payroll function.
  • Purchase ledger and sales ledger duties including matching and processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements, preparing payment runs, raising sales invoices across various trading activities, monitoring debtor balances and assisting with credit control procedures.
  • Banking and reconciliations including assisting with daily and monthly reconciliations, posting receipts and payments to the accounting system and reconciling balance sheet control accounts.
  • Month-end reporting and support including assisting with accruals and prepayments, posting journals as required, supporting the preparation of management accounts and assisting in the provision of financial information to departmental managers.
  • General financial administration including maintaining accurate and orderly financial records, supporting internal controls and financial compliance procedures and contributing to continuous improvement of systems and processes.
  • Working alongside other Estate departments on finance related projects as required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in an accounts and/or payroll role.
  • Experience processing payroll with minimal supervision.
  • Sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Experience of end-to-end payroll processing (desirable).
  • Familiarity with Sage or similar payroll software (desirable).
  • Understanding of HMRC payroll legislation and pension auto-enrolment requirements (desirable).
  • Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-department organisation (desirable).
