Visiting Durdle Door Holiday Park
Our Park has 391 caravan holiday homes, of these 19 are for hire, the remainder are privately owned. We also have pitches for camping, touring and motor-homes.
All of our caravans for hire have a car parking space adjacent to the caravan holiday home, and a patio with furniture. There are steps fitted to the entrance doors on all of the caravans, either two or three tread with handrails. We have one caravan holiday home, sleeping four suitable for disabled users and others with special needs. This unit is fitted with an entrance ramp and for the convenience of our customers is located within 50 meters of the telephone boxes, Cafe Bar and Take-Away, Store, Reception and postbox.
Touring & Camping Areas
Sea-view pitches are on gently sloping grass pitches with access to electric hook-ups for tourers and motorhomes only. Toilets and showers are located in the wooded camping area within 200 meters from the sea-view pitches.
Abbeyfield camping area offers 18 pre-allocated level grass pitches with electric hook-ups and 24 premium pitches with electric, water and grey waste points. Located next to Abbeyfield is our wooded camping area, suitable only for smaller tents. The showers, toilets, baby changing units, dishwashing and chemical toilet disposal are located here. There is also a shower with seat, basin and toilet located in this building accessed by using a Radar key, available from Reception for those not having their own. Water points are also nestled amongst the trees.
Eypeside Camping Field is located in the centre of the Park. This is a slightly sloping field with showers, family shower- rooms (key for family rooms available from Reception) within 156 meters and toilets within 60 meters. One car may be parked alongside the tent in all the camping areas.
The Park
For the safety of all our guests there is a 5 mph speed limit and marked speed bumps throughout the Park. There is a level short stay car park adjacent to the Shop / Bar / Reception area for use when booking in on arrival. Access to Reception is either by a gentle ramp with handrail or by two steps. Reception has a low level counter for easier access; most of our staff have successfully completed “Welcome Host” quality customer service and will gladly assist when required. Reception is open everyday from 8am; closing times vary according to the season but are displayed together with an emergency telephone number outside the main door. During peak times there is 24 hour coverage. Visitor Information leaflets, details of the latest events including weather and travel information can also be located in Reception.
Store provides a wide range of goods:- general groceries, camping accessories and gifts. Open everyday from 8am (closing times vary, but are displayed outside) Access is by ramp with wheelchair access.
Blue Crab Café Bar and Take-Away is located next to the Costcutters Store opening everyday from 1st March to 31st October offering a variety of entertainment, bar menus, specials board, local ales and a take-a-way menu. Entrance is via a ramp with the doors wide enough for wheelchairs. There are also gents and ladies toilets in the Bar.
The Laundry Room is located approx 35 meters from Reception, the washing machines, tumble dryers and irons are token operated; tokens may be purchased from Reception. There is a dropping off point outside the building and access is via a ramp. Extra visitor information leaflets can also be found in the Laundry.
Durdle Door Holiday Park is set on gently sloping land, above the South West Coast path with access to Man O War beach and the famous Durdle Door landmark via a steep path with steps onto the beach, which may not be suitable for the elderly or disabled. Dogs are welcome on our Park, but owners are requested to keep them under control and on leads whilst on site. Dog bins are located throughout the Park.
Local Transport
Garrison Taxis (Telephone number 01929 463395 and free phone 0800 666666) offer eight and seven seaters plus wheelchair access vehicles. Please advise them of your requirements when booking.
There is a regular bus service to and from Dorchester (Door to Dorset 103 service) usually operating a low floor accessible vehicle. This route connects with the local train station at Wool, the main Weymouth – Waterloo line.
From Wool Railway station the X53 service is available, this service runs daily including public holidays and is a coastal route stopping at many villages and towns including Poole, Wareham, Weymouth, Abbotsbury, Burton Bradstock, Bridport, Charmouth, Seaton, Beer and Exeter.
