Castle & Events Assistant Manager

Lulworth Castle is a stunning C17th building, set in acres of beautiful parkland, situated on the privately owned Lulworth Estate on the Jurassic Coast.

The Castle, owned by the Weld family since 1641, was gutted by a devastating fire in 1929. Open to the public since its consolidation project was completed in 1998 the Castle is a popular visitor attraction and regularly hosts private and public events throughout the year.

This is a great opportunity to progress a career in the tourism, heritage and events sector. This is a full-time (37.5 hours over 4 days) permanent role typically working Friday to Monday with late finishes on event days.

Salary dependent on experience £23,000 – £25,000

Responsibilities

Act as duty manager on event days delivering great customer service at all times

Prepare the Castle for events to include manual handling of banqueting furniture

Clean & maintain functions equipment & furniture ensuring excellent presentation at all times

Ensure the Castle, to include all event areas, is well presented at all times

Set up & use PA equipment
Liaise with and oversee contractors & suppliers before, during and after an event

Build strong working relationships with regular suppliers

Monitor visitor routes and ensure the health & safety of staff and visitors at all times

Respond to security and fire alarms at the Castle & Chapel both in and out of work hours

Perform weekly & monthly lighting & alarm tests

Assist the Castle Custodian, Tearooms staff & Groundsman with their duties as required

Deputise for the Castle & Events Manager in their absence with venue viewings, client liaisons and report writing

Ideal Candidate

Essential
Operational experience of working within Weddings and/or Events sector

Excellent written & spoken English

Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office

Excellent customer service or public engagement experience

Driving License

Eye for detail

Ability to work to strict deadlines

Desirable
Experience of working in historic or tourism environment

Experience of using tills & cash handling
Personal License Holder
First Aid Trained
Security qualification

Knowledge of collections care
