Lulworth Estate is well-known for its iconic landscapes and inspiring heritage, such as Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Lulworth Castle.  Supporting local communities and attracting around one million visitors a year, we operate diverse business operations to include tourism, education, retail, hospitality, a holiday park, property, farming and forestry.

The Role

A great opportunity to join our hardworking team who are responsible for providing an accurate and timely accounts function across all operational areas.  Reporting to Head of Accounts, this role is key in ensuring procedures and processes are conducted correctly and that data is presented in a meaningful way to enable decision making.  A pro-active approach with attention to detail and an enthusiastic outlook are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • To perform day-to day management accounting and admin tasks at all levels
  • Managing and, if necessary, maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Analyse monthly departmental budgets and explore variances with budget-holders
  • Preparation of effective management/trading accounts and cashflow reports
  • Provide analysis for the contribution to longer term financial and operational planning
  • Building professional and effective relationships across the business; liaising with departments, clients and suppliers
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Assisting the Head of Finance on the preparation of management and statutory accounts
  • Training of junior team members
  • Payroll tasks as necessary

Essential Attributes

  • Ability to take the initiative to get work completed efficiently, working independently and within a team environment
  • Capability and drive to interrogate figures, identify and solve problems in a logical and timely manner
  • Desire to mentor and develop skills of junior team members
  • Excellent communication skills across diverse areas of operation
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Expertise of using accounts packages and MS Excel to process information

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

AAT and CIMA qualification
Experience of working in accountancy practice
